KIP - Katie

Katie Doyle from 'Knowledge is Power'. I want the cast to be fairly large, partly because I'm adapting characters from an earlier idea who already have relationships and dynamics established, and partly because I like the idea of having a wide variety of powers to play off each other.

Katie's interests and hobbies are eclectic, and she's a very hands-on person who loves to be making or building something, whether it's a quilt, an amateur movie, a science experiment, or a model airplane. She's a physics major, and her powers are control over friction and kinetic energy. She can walk on ice as if it were concrete, or make people slip on concrete as if it were ice. She can make objects hover by imbuing them with enough upward momentum to cancel out gravity, and is the only one of the group capable of classic superhero-style flight. Her weapons of choice are superballs, which she can make burst into flame by fine-tuning their speed and air resistance. Finally, she can 'bounce' impacts off herself - a bullet, for example, will hit her without doing harm, while a nearby object shatters because she's transferred the force onto it. The proviso is, of course, that this ability is not automatic; she has to have enough warning to think about what she's going to do. If caught unprepared, she can be hurt like anyone else.
